Q600 500m Fire Department Underwater Rescue Robot

The Q600 is a fire department underwater rescue robot rated to operate at a depth of 500 Meters. It weighs 55kg and measures 630 x 470 x 460mm, so two operators can launch it from a boat or a quay. It suits salvage, underwater cutting, hull inspection and body recovery work in seawater and fresh water.

The robot uses 2 horizontal and 2 vertical propellers, giving it thrust in all directions and a stable hover for inspection. A 100m neutral zero buoyancy cable carries control and video and bears 300kg, and the robot sails at 3 knots. The design can accept GPS, small underwater imaging sonar and an ultra-short baseline positioning add-on.

The observing system is an 18X zoom 2 million pixel digital HD camera on a bracket that tilts ±75°. Two 50 W LED lights sit at the front, and depth, temperature and 3D electronic compass sensors feed the console. A detachable two-axis manipulator can move up and down or right and left to recover objects.

The unit fits dive rescue and salvage teams that need a stable eye and a manipulator in low visibility. It inspects hulls, dams, intakes and quay walls without putting a diver in the water. The video overlay of date, time, depth, temperature and navigation gives the surface team a record of each run. The manipulator can lift small objects clear of silt.

Where it fits

Suits dive rescue, salvage and inspection teams working in harbors, dams and offshore structures, where a 500m depth rating, an 18X zoom camera and a detachable manipulator let one crew inspect and recover without sending a diver down.
