Fire Extinguishing Robot

Fire Extinguishing Robots

Fire Extinguishing Robots for the Hot Zone

A firefighting robot puts the monitor where the crew cannot stand. The range covers diesel, electric and explosion-proof tracked robots with 80 L/s monitor flow, 1 km remote control and thermal, gas and video sensors. For refineries, tank farms, tunnels, warehouses and airport aprons where the first minutes are too hot or too toxic for a crew.

The range is delivered through CIMC Firetruck, with core manufacturing at Sichuan Chuanxiao in Chengdu. Every enquiry is tied to a written specification, a chassis or component availability date and a documentation pack for tender, registration or customs review.

Why the specification matters

Why Robots Are Used Where the Monitor Cannot Be Manned

A crew can reposition a monitor until the radiant heat becomes unsurvivable. A robot can stay in that position and keep applying foam.

Tank fires, tunnel fires and chemical releases create a hot, toxic or oxygen-deficient zone before the fire is controlled. A tracked robot with a monitor, a camera and a gas sensor can attack the seat of the fire from a distance while the crew operates from a protected position.

The commercial case is decided by four things: monitor flow, remote range, protection rating and sensor set; the usable performance, 80 L/s of monitor flow and 1 km of remote control; installation and operating fit; and the documentation needed for tender or registration. A lower purchase price that ignores one of those numbers is usually paid back in downtime.

Specification control

The monitor flow, remote range, protection rating and sensor set are fixed in one drawing or data sheet before production. The customer approves the interface, the performance figures and the accessory list as a set, not as separate purchase orders.

One system, one supplier

The core unit, controls, mounts and accessories are specified together. The interface risk sits with one supplier, not between an importer, an installer and a component vendor.

Performance with margin

The specification is built around 80 L/s of monitor flow and 1 km of remote control, then checked against the duty cycle, the duty point and the operating environment. The advertised maximum is not used as the design point.

Deployment and access

The equipment is arranged around a tracked chassis, a monitor, a camera and a sensor mast, with a tether or radio link, with the controls, connections, storage and carrying points accessible to the crew.

Service and parts

Each firefighting robot is delivered with a model-specific parts list, a consumable recommendation and a service schedule. Wear parts are identified before delivery.

Documentation before dispatch

Test records, operation manuals and the inspection file are prepared before shipment. The tender or registration package is reviewed against the destination requirements.

Manufacturer

Built by a Factory That Also Builds the Rest of the Fleet

The robot range is built around the monitor position: a tracked chassis, a protected sensor mast and a control link that keeps the crew out of the hot zone. The core manufacturing base is in Chengdu, with machining, fabrication, assembly and test under one management system.

Sichuan Chuanxiao Fire Trucks Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is a member of CIMC Tianda Holdings and traces its line to the Sichuan Fire Machinery Factory, founded in 1963. The company operates a 200,000 m² plant with more than 500 employees and a range of more than 300 fire truck variants.

Products are distributed in more than 60 countries, with service to more than 2,000 fire departments and rescue organizations. Factory-direct supply covers the appliance, the fire pump and monitor, the body and the parts list, rather than a broker assembling unrelated components.

Procurement questions

Fire Extinguishing Robots FAQs

The questions that decide the configuration, the chassis and the documentation package.

When should a robot replace a crew?

When the environment is too hot, too toxic or structurally unsafe for a person to approach the monitor position. A robot does not replace the incident commander or the rescue team; it removes one exposure.

What is the control range?

About 1 km in open air, less in a tunnel, a basement or a dense plant. A tether can extend the control and video link where radio does not reach.

How is the robot cooled?

The chassis and monitor are protected by heat shielding and a water spray or mist. The duty cycle depends on the radiant heat and the agent supply, so the operating limit should be confirmed in a site test.

Can the robot climb stairs and curbs?

The tracked chassis can climb about 25° and cross a 175 mm obstacle. Stairs are possible on some models, but the risk of a fall or a trapped track should be assessed before the robot is sent in.

What certification applies?

For Fire Extinguishing Robots, the documentation package includes the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management system certificates, the applicable GB 7956 test basis and the material and pressure test records. Market-specific certification is quoted separately.

What is the delivery lead time?

A standard configuration on an available chassis is typically 90–180 days after drawing approval. Imported chassis, aerial appliances, custom bodies and specialized equipment can take 6–10 months. The contract should state the chassis, drawing approval and delivery dates separately.

Can the specification be customized?

Yes. The firefighting robot can be configured around the tank, pump, body, equipment and destination requirements. The limit is the chassis rating, the stability calculation and the applicable standard, not the catalogue.

How is the unit shipped and handed over?

Large vehicles usually move by RoRo; smaller equipment can ship by container or air freight. A factory acceptance test can be arranged before shipment, and commissioning or training can be provided on site or remotely.

What training and spare parts are included?

Training covers operation, daily inspection and the task-specific drill. Each firefighting robot is supplied with a model-specific spare parts list, and a first-year consumables kit can be quoted.

What warranty is offered?

Warranty terms are set in the contract and typically cover the chassis per the chassis manufacturer’s terms and the fire body or equipment for 12–24 months. Extended coverage and a service-level agreement can be quoted.

How do I compare two quotations?

Compare the drawing, the bill of materials, the pump or system curve, the tank material, the axle-load calculation and the test plan. A lower price with a smaller tank, a generic pump or missing test records is not the same product.

What should I send for a quotation?

Send the task, the required capacity or flow, the chassis preference, the destination market and the equipment list. For a firefighting robot, a site plan, a photo of the access or the existing installation is also useful.
